Statistics on the import of complete automobiles of all types and automobile components and spare parts in February 2026.

According to preliminary statistics from the Customs Department, in February 2026, the number of complete automobiles of all types registered for import customs declarations increased by 7.8% (corresponding to an increase of 1,174 units) compared to the import volume of the previous month.

Specifically, the number of imported complete automobiles of all types in February 2026 reached 16,216 units, equivalent to a value of 359 million USD. Meanwhile, the number of imported complete automobiles of all types recorded by the Customs Department in the previous month was 15,042 units with a value of 385 million USD.

In February 2026, the majority of complete automobiles imported into Vietnam originated from three main markets: Indonesia with 7,682 units, an increase of 85.5% compared to the previous month; Thailand with 4,508 units, an increase of 49.5%; and China with 3,391 units, a decrease of 49.1%. The total number of vehicles imported from these three markets reached 15,581 units, accounting for 96% of the total number of vehicles imported into Vietnam.

Passenger cars with 9 seats or fewer:  In February 2026, 11,471 vehicles were imported into Vietnam, valued at US$201 million, accounting for 70.7% of all imported complete vehicles. This represents a 38.6% increase (equivalent to 3,196 vehicles) in the number of passenger cars with 9 seats or fewer imported into Vietnam compared to the previous month.

Of these, the majority of vehicles registered for import declarations were in the border gate and port areas of Ho Chi Minh City with 7,288 units, an increase of 81.7% (corresponding to an increase of 3,277 units) compared to the previous month, and Hai Phong City with 3,918 units, a decrease of 3% (corresponding to a decrease of 123 units).

In February 2026, the majority of imported passenger cars with 9 seats or fewer were from Indonesia, with 7,680 units (an increase of 85.5%); Thailand, with 3,047 units (an increase of 52.9%); and China, with 324 units (a sharp decrease of 78.1%) compared to the previous month.

Overall, the number of completely assembled cars with 9 seats or fewer imported from these three markets reached 11,051 units, an increase of 45.1% compared to the previous month and accounting for 96% of the total number of this type of vehicle imported into Vietnam.

Cars with more than 9 seats :  In February 2026, no cars with more than 9 seats underwent import procedures into our country.

Trucks :  The number of trucks that underwent customs procedures for import into Vietnam in February 2026 was 3,005 units, with a value of 82.5 million USD; a decrease of 20.7% in quantity and 15.9% in value compared to the previous month.

Of these, 1,444 vehicles originated from Thailand, an increase of 41.3% (equivalent to an increase of 422 vehicles) compared to the previous month, and 1,392 vehicles originated from China, a decrease of 34.9% (equivalent to a decrease of 746 vehicles).

In February 2026, the majority of transport vehicles registered for import were in the border gate and port areas of Lang Son city with 1,364 units, a decrease of 33.3% (equivalent to a decrease of 680 units) compared to the previous month; Ho Chi Minh City with 1,044 units, an increase of 49.6% (equivalent to an increase of 346 units) compared to 93 units in the previous month; and Hai Phong with 456 units, a decrease of 46.4% (equivalent to a decrease of 395 units) compared to the previous month.

Other types of vehicles (special-purpose vehicles):  In February 2026, Vietnamese businesses imported 1,740 specialized vehicles with a declared value of US$75.8 million, a decrease of 43.7% in quantity and 42.3% in value compared to the previous month. Of these, 1,675 originated from China, a decrease of 44.9% (corresponding to a decrease of 1,363 vehicles) compared to the previous month and accounting for 96% of the total number of vehicles of this type imported into Vietnam.

Other types of automobiles registered for import in February 2026 were mainly at the border gate area of ​​Lang Son province with 1,339 units, a sharp decrease of 54.2% (corresponding to a decrease of 1,584 units) compared to the previous month.

In the first two months of 2026, the cumulative number of imported complete automobiles of all types into Vietnam was 31,372 units, an increase of 27% compared to the same period last year; the import value reached 746 million USD, an increase of 39.2%. Of these, passenger cars with 9 seats or fewer accounted for 19,746 units, an increase of 2.8%, and transport vehicles accounted for 6,793 units, an increase of 143% compared to the same period last year.

Automotive components and parts:  According to preliminary statistics from the Customs Department, in February 2026, businesses imported $480 million worth of various automotive components and parts into the country, a decrease of 28.6% compared to the previous month.

Vietnamese businesses importing this group of goods last month had very diverse origins, mainly from China with $233 million, down 34.6% compared to the previous month; from South Korea with $58 million, down 26.2%; from Thailand with $54 million, down 8.4%; from Japan with $52 million, down 26.7%; from Indonesia with $21.7 million, down 28.6%; and from India with $31 million, down 20.5% compared to the previous month.

The value of automotive components and spare parts imported from these six markets reached nearly $450 million, accounting for 94% of the total value of automotive components and spare parts imported into the country last month.

In the first two months of 2026, the cumulative import value of automotive components and spare parts reached US$1.15 billion, an increase of 46.2% compared to the same period last year.

Thus, the import value of complete automobiles and automobile components in the first two months of 2026 reached US$1.9 billion, an increase of 43.4% (equivalent to an increase of US$574 million) compared to the same period last year.
