Based on the latest data from the World Trade Organization (WTO), the infographic below ranks the world's 30 largest exporting economies in 2025.

With exports totaling $3.8 trillion, China far surpasses the rest of the world, nearly double that of the United States. This gap demonstrates the Asian nation's dominant position in global manufacturing and trade.

Since gradually opening up its economy in the late 1970s and throughout the 1980s, China has pursued an export-driven growth model with the goal of becoming the "world's factory".

To date, no country exports more goods than China. China's enormous export scale is also fueled by the network of free trade agreements it has signed with numerous partners, including Australia, Pakistan, South Korea, and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

As a result, China is now the largest trading partner for more than half of the world's economies, and is increasingly playing a central role in the trade activities of both developed and emerging economies across all continents.

Meanwhile, although the U.S. is often cited as the world's largest import market, it also exports more than $2.2 trillion worth of goods, ranging from automobiles, oil, and soybeans to medical products. Its largest trading partners include its two neighbors, Canada and Mexico, along with China, Germany, and Japan.

Because the supply chain in North America is so tightly integrated, many of the goods that the US exports are actually manufactured from materials and components imported from Canada or Mexico. For example, some automotive parts and components may cross the borders of three countries six to eight times during the assembly process before becoming a complete car.

Besides the major trading powers, Gulf countries like Saudi Arabia, with exports of $311 billion, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), with $707 billion, also hold a prominent position relative to the size of their economies.

The main advantage of these economies comes from their abundant oil and gas reserves. Oil and related products currently account for nearly 75% of Saudi Arabia's total exports and more than half of the UAE's. Meanwhile, in the US – the world's largest oil producer – this share is less than 20%.

The heavy reliance on oil makes Gulf economies more vulnerable to geopolitical tensions or supply disruptions in the Middle East. The ongoing conflict involving Iran clearly illustrates this risk.

Notably, Asia has 11 representatives in this ranking. Among them, some notable Southeast Asian countries also made it onto the list, such as Singapore (14th place), Vietnam (18th), Malaysia (23rd), Thailand (25th), and Indonesia (30th).
